Learn together; helping one another to achieve our best

Sports Premium

As part of the legacy scheme following the 2012 London Olympic Games, each school in England is allocated an amount of money to spend exclusively on PE and Sport.
Over the 2016/17 academic year, we will receive a total amount of approximately £9,000.
We intend to spend our money in the following ways:
  • approximately £500 on providing extra structured sporting activities at lunchtimes;
  • approximately £1500 on providing extra structured sporting activities after school;
  • approximately £600 on increasing participation of PE in lesson time;
  • approximately £1500 on improving the quality of teaching in PE by using specialist coaches to assist staff;
  • approximately £1500 to affiliate ourselves with Chesterfield Sports Partnership in order to gain access to training courses, organised tournaments and specialist coaches;
  • approximately £500 on subsidising a minibus to provide transport to take children to tournaments;
  • approximately £1500 on improving our Outdoor and Adventurous Activities provision;
  • approximately £1000 on improving our dance provision.

The impact of this will include:
  • more provision and opportunities for activities at lunchtime through structured play and sporting activities;
  • greater variety and frequency of after school clubs provided by specialist coaches as well as staff;
  • increased teacher knowledge and confidence gained by working closely with specialist coaches in a variety of sports;
  • access to area tournaments and competitions as well as specialist coaches and training opportunities through affiliation with the Chesterfield School Sports Partnership;
  • the ability to enter more local tournaments as there will be the option to transport children;
  • raised confidence and self-esteem for children who take part in competitive sports;
  • children will gain skills in a wider variety of sports;
  • Profile of dance will be raised throughout school and more opportunities will be provided to dance;
  • increased opportunities for, and provision of, Outdoor and Adventurous Activities.
